Brand:
Penzora
Serial:
1063
Theme:
DC
Biography:
Nite Owl is the alias of two distinct characters in the DC Comics series, Watchmen. This entry focuses on Daniel Dreiberg, the second Nite Owl.
Daniel Dreiberg adopted the Nite Owl mantle from Hollis Mason, his predecessor. Unlike many costumed vigilantes, Dreiberg's crime-fighting was fueled by a genuine desire to help people, rather than personal trauma or a thirst for vengeance. He employed advanced technology in his crime-fighting, including a sophisticated Owlship, designed by himself.
Dreiberg is known for his kind nature and a less assertive approach to vigilantism compared to other members of the Watchmen. His first appearance was in Watchmen #1 (September 1986).
Following the Keene Act, which outlawed costumed vigilantism, Dreiberg retired and later rekindled his relationship with Laurie Juspeczyk, Silk Spectre II, continuing his crime fighting after certain events in the comic series, despite the illegality.
